“Low-cost” ideas to decorate your home

Halloween is approaching, the scariest night of the year, and in this year 2020 to celebrate it, domestic choices become important in the face of the restrictions imposed due to the coronavirus.

Halloween

Yes, you may not be able to go out and celebrate with your group of friends. But you can spend the day of fear with a small group of people at home, with costumes, decorations and candy for the kids in the house.

So we’re taking this opportunity to offer you some simple (and inexpensive) tips so that you can spend your day of fear with no effort and your home is the scariest it can be.

Pumpkins
You can’t have this 2020 Halloween event without American traditions like the classic Pumpkin Emptying. You just need to buy pumpkins, empty them, cut out holes that simulate eyes and mouths, and if you want, to give it a more special touch, insert some candles.

You can also make them with balloons made of thin orange paper glued with white glue and a brush, and then draw them with a black marker, or buy directly manufactured artificial LED lights for a safer touch.

Start with a simple black garbage bag and you have a perfect and inexpensive way to create your spider webs. With a bag, making your own with scissors and using a little skill and dexterity in cutting, you can get two spider webs that will help you decorate your house in an original way. You can even add spiders made of paper or plastic.

Homemade ghosts

Ghosts
From a few simple balloons and with the help of some bottles, you can make your own homemade ghosts. Glue a white-tailed balloon to the top of a bottle, soak a white cloth in a mixture of glue and water (in a 1:2 ratio), and then stretch the bottom half of the cloth to try to simulate the layers of a watery wave ghost. Let it dry for a few hours, then add some eyes that you can buy at any craft store to make it more realistic.

Candles
On occasions like this, low light is key. To create a creepy atmosphere, you can place the candles in the pumpkins you made earlier or in some candle holders covered with black lace fabric, which will definitely give your decor a more sinister feel.

Fake blood
If you don’t want to buy it, you can make it at home with this color of food coloring. If you still want to keep it in your hands, we have an easy way for you to do so. You will need a plastic wrap, which you should tape to a smooth surface so it doesn’t wrinkle.

Then mix the colorant (a small amount will do) with the liquid glue and stir patiently. If it is too light, add a few drops of food coloring. Press your hand with the liquid glue (unmixed) onto the plastic wrap, wash your hands and cover it again with the mixture you made earlier. Now press your red hand over the fingerprint you left when you first supported your hand and repeat several times until you have an even crust and it is thick enough not to break.
