Dr. Ralph Delius is a well-informed and educated individual. He began his training at the University of Michigan Medical Center, where he completed his general surgery residency. He then performed his cardiothoracic surgery residency at Lova University Hospital.
Traditional Surgery
Dr. Delius completed his training at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children in London, England, where he gained a year of expertise in pediatric cardiac surgery. His career has spanned the entire spectrum of cardiac surgery, including transplantation, adult cardiac surgery, ECMO, and the unique pressures of different vein centers for pediatric cardiac surgery. In addition, he has held faculty appointments at UC Davis, Wayne State University and UMass Lowell. His most recent position in 17 years is at Children’s Hospital of Michigan in Detroit, where he has published nearly 100 scientific papers and books on surgery.
Dr. Ralph Delius clearly states that outpatient; catheter-based procedures are the future direction of medicine. This is because there are unlimited conditions requiring primary surgery and extended hospital stays that can now be safely and conveniently managed in an outpatient setting. For the past 25 years, Dr. Delius has practiced open-incision surgery, which continues to help many patients today. It is becoming increasingly apparent that traditional surgery is becoming a thing of the past and that traditional surgery performed using large incisions, scalpels, larger retractors and even astronomical instruments is quickly becoming obsolete in many vein centers.

As a result, he believes it would be more valuable to be part of the future rather than a relic of the past. After performing more open-incision procedures, Dr. Ralph chose to make the transition to a more modern catheter-based treatment by joining the Metro Vascular staff.
Dr. Delius’ commitment and tenacity has allowed him to successfully accomplish everything he has done in his career. Prior to entering his career, he laid a solid academic foundation that has been the standard bearer of his career. He first enrolled in higher education studies at the University of California, Northridge, where he completed his undergraduate studies. In addition, he is a medical degree holder from the University of California, Davis, School of Medicine. After completing his studies, he ventured into the pharmaceutical industry. He has served numerous phlebotomy centers by performing traditional procedures on many patients. Currently, Dr. Delius is primarily based in the Metro Vascular Canton office in Texas.
